Chapter four

Naruto shuffled to the bedroom door and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. It was near noon and he had been sleeping for over a day now, thanks to the medication the nurses had been giving him.
"D-damn." His knees felt like jelly and his mind was all mush. He'd never once lazed in a bed for that long, and the effects were all new to him. "My body. . ."
He stepped out of the room after mustering up a small amount of energy in his arms to open the door. The hallway was empty aside from a small decorative desk that held a bible on its surface. Irony. . . He'd passed it before on the day of his arrival and thought nothing of it.
When he made his way downstairs and entered the kitchen, he found a young girl pulling a tray out of the tall oven. The room smelled of berries and cream. Yum. When she turned around to find Naruto, she smiled at him and patted down her long white apron.
"Good afternoon, young Uzumaki-san. Would you like something to eat?" she asked.
He blinked at her. He hadn't realized how quite hungry he was until he walked in to the fruity fumes. "Um. . .yes, please. That'd be great."
She giggled and walked to a cupboard to pull out a plate. Naruto took a seat at the glass kitchen table, enjoying the cushion of the chair beneath him. The young woman soon set a white porcelain plate in front of him, along with a glass of milk and a separate glass of what looked like fizzing water.
"Drink the milk of your will, but please, try to drink most of the medicine."
Naruto sighed in to the glass. "More medicine?"
The young woman chuckled and patted the top of the blond's head. "Forgive me, but yes; we must fix you back up. Let's just hope you've learned your lesson, Uzumaki-san." She shook her head, tsked, and walked back to the tray of muffins.
Naruto eyed her. "Excuse me?"
She kept her eyes on the pastry cakes, pulling them from their pocket one by one and setting them on a plate. "Uchiha-san's temper must be respected. You showed some serious bravery; and on only your first day. The last pet didn't--I mean, no one's ever shown that kind of stupidity around this household."
"Stupidity?"
She stopped her moving hands and looked up at the boy, her eyes serious. "Mr. and Mrs. Uchiha are very powerful people, Uzumaki-san. They spend most of their time doing business that shouldn't, and will not, be questioned." She stood, comfortable in her place. "When the young masters were just children, they were never given the time of day from their parents, mostly just watched by nannies or a paid sitter." She sighed. "It's sad, really. They never experienced a true childhood, just got whatever they asked for and pouted if they didn't. I believe that they've both come to be also very powerful young men. If they ask for something, they get it, Uzumaki-san; everyone knows that--you should learn." She ended her discussion with a swallow, then walked out of the kitchen.
Naruto looked down at the food on his plate, knowing he was hungry, but no longer feeling the need to eat.

*

Naruto sat on his bed cross-legged, thought of everything that meant nothing; thought of anything to get his mind off of the young woman in the kitchen.
What the hell was that? He couldn't think of any reason as to why she would possibly be out to get him. Was that even the situation; or is she just protective of Sasuke? He wasn't sure. He pulled at his blonde locks, trying to keep his mind as far away from the topic as possible.
The knock on his door startled him.
"Come in?" His voice broke and he cleared his throat.
He expected Sasuke to walk in, to be checking in on him. Though it didn't make sense for him to even think that.
His thoughtful suggestion was correct. His eyes widened at the dark creature who entered his room with a smug look on its face. His legs unfolded and he sat up straight.
"I see you're feeling better." Sasuke shut the door behind him.
"Yeah, I'm still surprised at how its even possible. I feel perfectly fine." He twisted his wrists and stretched, expressing his health to Sasuke.
The raven crossed his arms and licked his teeth behind his lips. "Wonderful."
Naruto tipped his head to the side and blinked. "Sarcasm?"
"No. It's good you're back to health. I wouldn't want to present you to my brother looking like trash."
Naruto winced at the last word. "Right, your brother. What's he like?" He cleared his throat once more.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow in the blond's direction. "Are you honestly asking me that?"
He swallowed. "Well, yeah. Am I not allowed to start conversation in this household either?"
Sasuke looked him over, thought. Then sighed and shifted his weight. "Well, he's been known for his intimidating aura, though I find him to be just as useless as yourself."
"Thanks."
"Women love him, though he's gay."
That shocked Naruto. His head perked upward. "Really?"
"Yes, my mother tells everyone that his influence on me as a child is what caused me to because homosexual as well." He spoke casually and picked dust from his sweater.
He. . .Did he just. . .say that? Naruto hung his feet over the edge of the bed and fiddled his toes.
"People say we look alike, though I disagree. His voice is deeper, his hair and eyes are darker, and he's much taller with more broad of shoulders."
Naruto nodded and looked at the floor. "What's his name?"
Sasuke took a breath. "Itachi."
"Itachi. . .it's pretty."
"Yeah.
Naruto carefully slid from the bed and stood on the floor. He adjusted his black tee and slipped in to his slippers.
Sasuke unfolded his arms and blinked at him. "What have you been doing all day, relaxing?"
Naruto looked up at him with a questioning expression. "Yes. . .?"
"Haven't you showered?"
"Not yet. . ." He furrowed his brow in guilt. "I'll do it; eventually."
"That's not the response I was looking for." Naruto could hear the smile in Sasuke's voice.
"I'll go right now."
"Good, you look terrible."
"Thanks."
Sasuke chuckled. "You're so easy to make fun of."
"Well, I wouldn't want to upset you. From what I've been told, if you don't get what you want, you flip out. Not to mention, I just recovered from my own experience."
The Raven eyed the blond. "What do you mean 'from what you've been told'?"
Naruto internally gasped at his words. "Hm?"
"What do you mean 'hm'? It's what you just said. Who did you speak to?"
The blonde sucked in air. "No one, why?" He looked away.
"No one my ass." Sasuke pulled the blond's face towards him. "Who, Naruto? Just tell me."
"That. . .hurts. Let go." He pulled at the raven's hands, attempting to free his jaw.
"If there are people speaking of me behind my back, I'd like to know." He let go of Naruto's jaw.
The blond rubbed his mandible and pouted. "What kind of person would be if I just tattled, Sasuke?"
Sasuke widened his eyes, then glared. "The type of person who would like to stay away from a hospital bed." He crossed his arms and soothed his features.
Naruto swallowed and hugged his arms. "You wouldn't do it twice, would you?"
"Oh, but I would."
Naruto looked up at Sasuke, glanced over his features once. He couldn't help but memorize the shape of his mouth--soft and dangerously perfect. Then, he remembered the kiss. He felt his cheeks flare and he lowered his face.
Sasuke took in a slow breath. "That smells good."
Naruto blushed even harder and looked up. "Huh?"
"You're blushing. Thank God you're not on narcotics anymore."
The blond pursed his lips and looked Sasuke in the eyes. "D-does it really smell good?"
Sasuke tilted his head slightly. "It's blood, Naruto. Of course it does."
"O-oh." Why am I getting nervous? I think of the. . .kiss, and suddenly he's intimidating me with everything he does. "Right; sorry." He bit his lip, then winced when he felt the skin break.
"Way to go, dobe."
"Dammit." He sucked on his lip, swallowed the rusty spit.
"Call me crazy, but I'd say you're doing all of this, just so that I'll kiss you again. You enjoyed it, didn't you?"
Naruto looked up at Sasuke. His eyes were seductive and he carried a sly smile. "W-what?"
The raven stepped forward, putting his face inches from Narutos'.
"S-Sasuke. . .what--"
"Shut up." Sasuke scanned his eyes over Naruto's face. "Tell me who talked about me, Naruto."
The blond's mind sought for the answer, scanned his mind entirely. He found nothing; his thoughts were fixated on nothing but Sasuke's presence. It was so close, just out of reach.
Suddenly, Naruto's mind skipped as something altered his vision; entered the picture in front of him. Fingers. Peachy fingers touched Sasuke's pearl-white face, ruining the perfect frame. Naruto's eyes flickered in their direction--they stopped in their path, freezing their caress they had on the raven's jawline. He felt his arms shake with surprise. His head slowly lowered, looked at his forearms, traced upward until his gaze landed on the tips of his fingers. His eyes widened, and before he could remove his hands, something grabbed them; a much paler, much more beautiful set of fingers--talons. They laced in between his own and pulled backward, gliding him forward--towards Sasuke.
The raven wrapped his lose arm around the blond boy's waste, pulling him so close he could hear the beating heart. His own lifeless, blood-thirsty organ ached for what pulsed through the boy in front of him. Right in front of him; directly near him. He lowered his head to touch foreheads with him, lightly inhaled; took in the burning scent of winter forest--the scent of Naruto. Before planting a kiss, before sinking his teeth deep in to the willing, warm flesh, he spoke again:
"Don't lie to me."
Just read it.
I don't own Naruto, of course.
This is mine.
